All athletes are required to sign a Code of Conduct at the start of each season.

Washington Park District Lacrosse - Player Code of Conduct 2019

Participation in the Washington Park District Lacrosse Club is a privilege, not a right. Therefore, it is imperative that all members understand the following rules and responsibilities, and acknowledge that the Washington Park District Lacrosse Club, its coaches and program coordinators have every right to revoke these privileges for improper behavior. As a member of this association, I agree to abide by all elements of this code of conduct:

I accept responsibility for my behavior on and off the field. I understand that what I do and say affects my teammates, friends, parents, coaches, school and community – positively or negatively.

I lead courageously and live with integrity by speaking up against injustice and on behalf of others even when it’s hard or unpopular.

I act with respect toward the Rules, Officials, Opponents, Teammates, and Self. I respect my parents/guardian, coaches, spectators and the things around me.

I serve as a role model at all times by talking politely and acting courteously toward coaches, teammates, opponents, officials and spectators. I understand that it is a privilege to represent my family, school and community as a student athlete. Because I am a role model, I refrain from using profanity or illegal tactics, from the use of any illegal drug, tobacco in any form, and alcohol.

I give 100% effort to practices, games and events. I understand that effort demonstrates my commitment to the team and my respect to coaches and teammates. I compete intensely on the field, but always conduct myself in a sportsmanlike manner.

I display good sportsmanship. I acknowledge and applaud the efforts of others. I encourage my teammates with positive statements. I refrain from boasting to my teammates and “trash talking” to members of other teams. I accept defeat graciously by congratulating my opponents on a game well played.

I obey all rules set forth by the Washington Park District Lacrosse Club and coaching staff, and adhere to all Washington Park District Lacrosse Club, NFHS and US Lacrosse rules. These rules will apply to any/all information being put on social media sites regarding Washington Park District Lacrosse Club. Information on social media should be objective and factual in nature, otherwise it will require permission from the Washington Park District Lacrosse Board.

I understand the process of communication for questions/concerns:  Player → Coach & Parent/Guardian → WPD Lacrosse Board → Coach

In general, all persons associated with the Washington Park District Lacrosse Club are required to avoid "conduct detrimental to the integrity of, and public confidence in, the Washington Park District Lacrosse Club." This requirement applies to players, coaches, and spectators.

Because I represent my family, community and team, I abide by the above policies, rules and guidelines whether in season or not. I understand that unbecoming conduct may subject me to the following (in no particular order or combination):

  • Verbal warning by the Washington Park District Lacrosse Club Board and/or coaching staff.
  • Written warning by the Washington Park District Lacrosse Club Board and/or coaching staff.
  • Immediate ejection and possible suspension from league events, which may be determined by the coach or board members as necessary. This could take the form of a game, multiple games and/or an entire season.
